Think about it Thursday...

I can't believe it's been a week since I was on here last! Time flies when you're in a wedding celebrating all weekend! :) I wanted to get a little "deep" if you will today, and tag it " Think about it Thursday." Here we go ...

One of my favorite books that I've ever read is Randy Pausch's "The Last Lecture." I read it for the second time on the beach this summer and will probably read it again and again. A lot of people think that it's a sad story about a man dying from cancer and shy away from reading it. But, it's actually one of those books that highlights so many refreshing things to remember about life and how to live it fully, while putting your own life in perspective and making you realize how special your life really is.

One chapter in the book is titled "Watch What They Do, Not What They Say." He shares the best piece of advice he got from a female colleague that he wanted to pass along to his daughter. He believes this is the best advice he's ever heard ... "when it comes to men who are romantically interested in you, it's really simple. Just ignore everything they say and only pay attention to what they do." I agree with Randy. This is the truth on so many levels, not just when it comes to romance, but any relationship you have with another person. Just like "actions speak louder than words", people's words will only take them so far. Their actions will take them the rest of the way. When it comes to girls/women listening to a man's words, they invest too much on their words, when they really should be watching what these men are doing to prove their words. When it comes to friends saying  all these different promises, we should be watching to see if they are actually capable of fulfilling these promises, or if they are just left empty. I have fallen victim to this many of times, and Randy's words allow me to put things back into perspective and really focus on what the truth is, and what is really coming from the heart.

At the same time, reflect on your own words; do they match up with your actions? Do your actions fall short of what you are communicating to those around you? If they are falling short, focus on your shortcomings and improve on them. Men, if you're reading this - I will hear what you say, but I will take Randy's colleagues advice and pay attention to what you do instead.

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL!

As sad as I am to see the summer end after this weekend, I am excited to see what this football season will bring! 75 man roster will go to the 53 man roster, and the tailgating can officially begin! I will be going to my first away game this season in Cleveland to see them take on the Pats! This will be the first time I have ever been to a stadium other than a Boston based one ...

With that being said, what is your favorite tailgating food? My tops are buffalo chicken dip, chili queso dip, and some burgers. I've had some great ribs and venison while tailgating too! I would like to learn a new recipe, does anyone have any great ones to share with me for this season?

GO PATRIOTS!!!

I have never made this before, but it seems fitting :)

one shoulder dresses!

Okay, here's my new obsession! I love love LOVE one shoulder dresses! I have been searching for a great one and I FINALLY found it!!! I have been looking for something sexy yet sophisticated that I can wear to different events and most importantly I feel beautiful in it! What I love about it even more is that I can merchandise it up with different jewelry, shoes, belts, etc! In general, I think the one shoulder neckline flatters every girls figure while making the dress look original and fresh! I think if there's one staple each girl should have in their closet, it's a one shoulder dress!!!!

Makeup Monday!

SOOO it's Monday ... boooo to that alarm going off to start the work week! I thought I focus on things that make me happy to get me through the last Monday of the summer :( Why not makeup! Makeup makes me happy! I love trying out new products and learning new tricks, so I thought I'd share with you a couple of my favorite makeup products!

This is my favorite bronzer! It's Sephora brand, so it's affordable (in my book hehe) and it gives that great sun kissed glow you need to look like you've been beachin' it all summer, when you've really been in an office every day! The only thing I think it could improve on is the crumble factor; when you're running low on it, it crumbles easily and you end up having to throw it away...

This is my new favorite blush! This is from Carmindy's (the makeup artist from TLC's What Not To Wear) Sally Hansen Natural Line and it's the first creme blush I've used. At first I was a little scared, but it's got a great texture that looks pretty and is long lasting. It also dubs as a great lip color if you are going for the muted lip :) I think the best thing about going from a powder blush to a creme blush is that it's a super fast application if you hit the snooze button (like I did) on a Monday morning too many times and are trying to beat the clock!

What is your favorite makeup product these days?

My Sister's Wedding Week!

Ok, ok, ok, so maybe she's not my sister, as I'm an only child, BUT she might as well be we've been in each others lives for so long! In 7 days my VERY FIRST childhood friend will be walking down the aisle a single girl, and walking back as a married lady! I simply can't believe it! Catie and I met when I moved down the street from her about 20 years ago and we have been partners in crime ever since! We have choreographed endless dances, jumped a million waves at the ocean, and supported each other's decisions in our life paths...

Her life path took to an amazing man, Kevin, and they have a bond/love/friendship/romance that any hopeless romantic (like myself) would be envious of. They compliment and balance each other in so many different aspects of life, it is such a refreshing thing to witness. Catherine and I have been having so much fun planning her wedding the last 8 months via Gchat (we are talented!) and making decisions for the wedding weekend, and he we are the week before the big day! I am so lucky to have her in my life and I can't wait to enjoy this wedding with her and her family! Here's to Catie and Kevin!! 9.5!! Love you both! xxxo Kaitlin

I'd love the feedback, comments, and critiques if you decide to read :) Let the blogging and posting commence! xxxo Kaitlin
